More than a year after his arrest, an Australian man accused of operating a cryptocurrency network linked to darknet activity has been granted bail under strict conditions.

The investigation, known as Strike Force Andalusia, began after cybercrime investigators discovered a cryptocurrency wallet allegedly containing more than AUD $5.7 million connected to suspected darknet transactions. During a search of the suspect's home, police also seized computers, digital storage devices, mobile phones and a small quantity of cocaine.

Although prosecutors argued the suspect should remain behind bars because of the seriousness of the allegations, the court ruled that he could be released while awaiting trial. His bail conditions include daily reporting to police, restrictions on internet use, a travel ban and house arrest.

The case highlights how cryptocurrency investigations are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Rather than focusing only on drugs or marketplace operators, investigators are now following blockchain transactions that they believe connect digital assets to criminal proceeds.
